Stitch ATCs

In my last post about the mermaid spread, I worried about whether the recipient (June) would like it. Well, I got a very enthusiastic e-mail and she does like it. Phew!



Here is one of three ATCs that were for a stitch theme. As well as machine stitching around the edges, I also stitched some wire on the top left hand corners with some beads for embellishment. I spent quite a bit of time on these ATCs and they were great fun to do, seeming to come together all by themselves.

Mermaid AB Spread

Another completed project - this is a spread for an altered book on the theme of mermaids. I used a found photograph of this lady, added a tail, printed her on a lovely antique map, added the transparency with the "Not Waving but Drowning" poem by Stevie Smith, added the phial (which I made from a cut down test tube) with tiny shells and tendrilly fibre which looks like tiny seaweed. I made a tag, added the copper dog tag (from Maz's lovely metal stash), having stamped the word WAVE on it.

Well, I love the traditional Scottish folk stories of strange sea creatures and thoroughly enjoyed this spread.

Card and Chunky Page for Laura

I can post these now that Laura's birthday is over and I am not spoiling any surprises. This is my page that Maz made into a unique chunky book to celebrate Laura's 40th.

I think it is rather fitting that Laura got a chunky book as she often has great chunky book projects on the go (see link to her blog on right to hear about her latest special fast and dirty chunky book project - Laura's Blog is: The Altered Eye)

And now the Shipping News

This is a spread for an altered book on the theme of "The Sea". I decided to indulge my enjoyment and celebration of Britain's (sadly now dwindling) fishing industry and the brave men and women who took to the seas in all weathers.

I am really pleased with this spread - the sea is one of my favourite subjects and I rather like the colours blue pink and brown - gonna have to combine those again.

With a favourable wind it will be on its way to Pat tomorrow (veering Southwesterly, 6 or 7. decreasing 4. moderate or good.)

Purple and Black Everyday Book Page

Well, last week was so hectic at work and I was focussing so much onthat, that I left myself no time or energy to do much along the lines of art.

Made up for it this weekend though! Can't show you everything I have done as some of it is for birthdays coming up in this busy month, but I have finished my EDB page which, as always was great fun to do.


Managed to remember to scan this month's page. This is it nearly finished, just got to sew the buttons on and attach it to the book and it will be off to its next destination.

These books are getting near the end now - just two more pages and they are finished. Getting really excited about seeing my own book again.

Them Teeny Tiny Collages

Everyone is doing these 1" x 1" collages and I decided to give it a go over the weekend. They are fiddly, but such fun!



Also, here is the artwork for card I made for Liz's birthday, collage, paint and the card had an eyelet and some danglies which included handmade paper beads.



I have several other larger book projects on the go at the moment, but, as often happens with me, they are all in progress and will probably all come together all at once.

But, here are the ATCs I mentioned before that I had begun last week - I finished them last night - hooray.




looking in my "Saved for Web" folder in Photoshop I noticed a riot of colour. Eek! I am a slut for colour. I can't help it. Is there a 10 step programme?
